Bou wows Sheffield

The non-World Championship Sheffield Indoor Trial was a tremendous success, with the promoters Neil Crosswaite and Martin Lampkin coming up with a new formula that went down a storm with the crowd and riders alike.
The riders enjoyed the opening lap, when each took it in turn to ride a section first and also the fact that all six riders got to complete two laps. It was a much more fair system than that employed in the World Championship and made for a much more competitive event and created an excellent atmosphere.
Adding to the buzz, home-hero Dougie Lampkin was riding at his very best and led the event right up until the final three sections when suddenly it all went wrong, culminating in a big crash in the final race when the footrest on the factory Mont snapped, resulting in a big crash which cruelly robbed Doug of a worthy podium placing.
