British Motocross Championship Graeme Irwin
Newly-crowned Maxxis ACU British MX1 champion Graeme Irwin will sign off from this years championship by racing both pro classes at the series finale atFoxhill on August 27.
The 24-year-old Buildbase Honda rider was hoping to race a 500cc two-stroke but red tape - along with the fact he hasn't got access to a five-tonner - has caused him to rethink his plans and instead he'll line-up in MX1 and MX2.
"It's just for a bit of fun and seems like a good way to end what's been a great season for me," he said. "The work's done - it's not as though we're going to go there worrying about the championship - and Foxhill isn't as physically demanding as some other circuits.
"Harri Kullas has been doing it a fair bit this season so I thought I'd have a go as well."
Buildbase Honda is building up a CRF250R to the same spec as his team-mate Martin Barr's race bike and Graeme's aiming to shake things up in his first MX2 race since 2013.
"We're still going to treat it seriously though - I'm not just going to go there to ride around and make up the numbers, I want to be competitive and hopefully put it on the box. That would be lovely but we'll see - it's a fast class.
"Like I said, it's just for a bit of fun but I also think riding the 250 will make me more aggressive and help keep me sharp for the Nations."
