Preview: Canada Heights ready for Maxxis MX2 Youth scrap
By Team TMX on 2nd May 19
British Motocross Championship Canada Heights Joel Rizzi
With four races written in the 2019 record book and with all four victories going to Joel Rizzi (RFX KTM Powered by PAR Homes), his lead at the top of the Maxxis MX2 youth championship after two rounds is a healthy one.
Topping the pile, 24 points clear of second-placed Manchester MC Husqvarna runner Kyle McNicol, Rizzi has so far been absolutely irresistible on his 125/149cc two-stroke. Since the championships inception in 2007, only a handful of two-stroke victories have ever materialised up against four-stroke power but this year Rizzi seems intent on rewriting that fact.
Taking up the challenge immediately behind Rizzi, McNicol sits just two points ahead of GL12/DEP Husqvarna ace Ike Carter, as 40 points off top spot Verde Substance KTM pilot Dominic Lancett holds fourth.
On current form its fair to think the podium down at Swanley in Kent this weekend should feature three of the above but you can never rule out the talented chasing pack. Ten points behind Lancett and occupying series fifth, Ryan Thomson leads a competitive gaggle of tightly-packed comrades all looking to move up.
Josh Peters is just one point behind Thomson and a further one-point back Patrick Jackson sits two in front of Kawasaki Team Green campaigner Kacey Hird.
