British Motocross Championship Injury Report
Maxxis ACU MX1 championship leader Jake Nicholls faces another fitness battle after dislocating his hip at the MXGP of Trentino on Sunday.
Nicholls, winner of three of the first four British championship motos staged so far this season, has been told he could face three weeks on his back followed by a long recovery period.
‘Yesterday in the second moto I went in a bit deep around a corner and somehow dislocated my hip,' he said on social media. ‘I didn't crash but fell off the bike in agony shortly after.
‘Hasn't really sunk in yet but I'm just happy yesterday is over. No-one has really said anything to me here yet so I don't know when I'll be able to go home.'
His Hitachi KTM UK team boss Roger Magee said on Tuesday they were hoping Nicholls, whose career has hit by a string of injuries, would be put in cast before being flown to Derby where Jamie Dobb has arranged for him to see a consultant.
"The details are a wee bit sketchy and until we get him back into the UK we'll not know the extent of his injury and what needs to be done,” said Magee. "In situations like this you don't really think about motorbikes and championships, it's all about getting his health right.
"It's a blow to him personally and the team but that's secondary to what he's going through.”
