2026 marks 40 years since David Thorpe claimed his second world title in 1986, and to commemorate that landmark achievement, the three-time FIM 500cc World Champion - four if you include his veterans’ crown - and undisputed British motocross icon, David Thorpe, will attend the 2026 VMXdN at Hawkstone Park as guest of honour.

Thorpe will be on hand throughout the weekend to sign autographs, with copies of his autobiography No Regrets also available. Adding further significance to the occasion, his legendary 1986 factory HRC Honda RC500 will be present, allowing Thorpe to complete a parade lap aboard the very machine that helped define an era.

Hawkstone Park is a venue steeped in British motocross history, and with VMXdN returning to the iconic Shropshire hills over the August Bank Holiday weekend, more memories are certain to be made. The four-day event runs from August 27–30 and promises far more than just racing.

With so much packed into the weekend, there is plenty to enjoy before the gate even drops on the racing action on Saturday and Sunday. A stroll through the open paddock can easily take hours as fans reconnect with familiar faces, collect autographs from motocross legends, and soak up the atmosphere – all before lingering over the stunning two-stroke machinery on display in the ever-popular Show ’N’ Shine.

Camping passes are limited and selling fast, so those planning to stay on site are advised to book early.

Spectator tickets and camping passes are available at vmxdnhawkstone.com/buy-tickets.
