British SX dates rejigged
By TMX Archives on 1st Oct 10
The opening weekend of the British Supercross series at Belfast's Odyssey Arena has now been condensed in to a one-day affair on Saturday, October 23.
The Liverpool date, originally in November, has now been switched to February.
The O2 round, in London, will still be on the original date of February 5, in conjunction with a motorcycle show at the nearby Excel Centre.
Future West's John Hellam explained the alterations: "The changes at Belfast are necessary due to the present economic climate. Ticket sales for the Friday inBelfast didn't warrant a two-day event.
"We have decided that one packed house on Saturday night is the way to go for this year.
"We have also had some correspondence from riders that find it overly expensive to contest a two-day event compared to a one day fixture. Extra time off work or school is an added drain on competitors.”
In relation to the Liverpool round of the Championship which has now been moved to February 19, Hellam said: "This date move will give us more flexibility with the organisational side of things as we have taken on more events worldwide this year and date clashes could not have been avoided without these alterations.
"Future West would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and looks forward to the revised schedule.”
