BURNTWOOD Barracudas ran its first meeting of the season at the Branston circuit on Sunday. Set on the side of a hill, the track features long up and downhill sections with a technical section right at the top in the woods. There were full gates in all but the Inter Junior class, a class in which riders struggle to get around Branston, but those who braved it rode very well.

Local Plant and Equipment suppliers, LeavesleyInternational, supports the club in all of its ventures. Thisassociation gives the Barracudas plenty of opportunity to modify thetrack layout using Leavesley equipment, see how it runs and take onboard riders' comments, enabling them to come up with a really gooddesign for the IMBA 125cc round due in August.

The layout was quite good, with one red-flag foran incident on the start, but, according to rider feedback, changesneed to be made to a chicane section halfway along the straightfollowing the first corner.

The 2007 season has been pretty dry so far and, aswith many events, the track was dusty from the start of second blockand very dusty for the third block. It was watered before the ExpertOpen race as it was felt that they would be able to cope with thechange in conditions better than any other class.
