Christian's Iddon talents
By TMX Archives on 6th Nov 08

THE final round of the Gimoto National Supermoto Champion-ship saw large entries for the racing at Cadwell Park. Fancy dress at the clubhouse to celebrate Halloween on Friday evening was followed by fun racing for dads and mechanics on Saturday evening.
It seems mechanics may be better than dads though James Addy had an interesting style while Dave Jolly as usual cut though the pack, this time on an 85cc mount.
Crasher' Cornish was definitely slower than son Lewis, and Mrs Rudd made an excellent effort for the mums. Barbara Norris, as usual, spent the weekend fund-raising and added to the donations of 300 from the mechanics race, Craig Kilners' prize winnings and a generous cheque from NORA-Sport meant there will be a cheque
for 1468.22 handed over to the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance.
YOUTH
JORDAN Holliday had the first win of the day in the Youth class and was very closely followed by Scott Pitchers and Brett Sayer.
In the second race, Pitchers clinched the win, and following a fall which had left him out of race one, Malachi Mitchell Thomas took second ahead of Ben Stafford. Jordan Holliday finished fourth and Joe Collier swapped his first race fourth place for fifth spot in race two, followed by Chelsea Gowland.
Brett Sayer, who had finished third in the opener, was very unlucky and had two falls in the second race which left him out of the final.
NATIONAL 250cc CHAMPS
LEE Cunliffe needed to collect points at the final round for him to be able
to secure the 250cc National Championship and as usual he was extremely consistent, but was still pressured throughout by Lewis Cornish.
Cornish returned from injury mid-way through the season and has recently had some very good results outside of the UK.
NATIONAL 450cc CHAMPS
THE 450B group riders were put under pressure by the 250cc class who infiltrated the pack from the staggered start. In the first race, Dean Wingate and Michael Bertram were the first two riders to move up to Group A following their excellent finishes, leaving Richard Pepper on pole for the start of race two.
However, it was Neil Crayston who secured the second race win, with Pepper in second place to secure their move up a group.
NATIONAL OPEN CHAMPS
John the Bong' started at the front of the grid in Group B after losing his chain in timed practice and led convincingly, setting the fastest lap and winning the first race. It had looked as if Anthony Long would take second place but David Hallett improved throughout and snatched second in the dying seconds.
Dean Wingate had an excellent second race, holding back the eager Anthony Long but both riders moved up to Group A.

BRITISH SUPERQUADDER CHAMPS
SERIES leader, Mark Donnelly, was absent for the final round of
the All Spares British SuperQuader Champ-ionship as a round of the Irish series clashed with the NORA-Sport event at Cadwell Park, but extra races were held on Sunday to allow Irish riders to travel over for the last time in 2008.
Pavel Sobczyk, was invited over from Poland to join in the fun, and showed a clear pair of heels in race one in front of the battling Joe Hodgson and Mike Taylor.
Hodgson was in second spot for the majority of the race but found the gap difficult to bridge once Taylor had moved up into second. This left Hodgson in third spot with Matt Lawry, fourth, and Sam Hodgson, returning from injury, in fifth.
In race two, Taylor had the best start and kept Sobczyk in second place, though less than half a second separated the pair.
A fall for Hodgson allowed Lawry to stay in front which was where he needed to be to secure third place in the series.
