Club Report: Kingston & DMCC
By TMX Archives on 7th May 14
Kingston over the last few years seem to get no luck when it comes to the weather and today was no different with the clouds opening up early and then showers throughout the event but being a true forest event it did not hinder the going.
Championship hot shot Max Varney was pre race favourite and showed his intent with a blistering MX test but as conditions worsened the conditions suited one of the best and most consistent all rounders Phil Wiffen and despite it only being his first season in the top class he really showed his skill and true colours here by taking the win from runner up Max. Bradley King made his long journey up from Dorset worthwhile with third.
No Mark Kirby in the Expert class today so it was left to Richard Ball and Steve White to fight it out and what a contrast in styles with Richard Ball's very animated aggressive style against the lazy laid back deceptive style of Steve White and today's conditions without doubt suited the calmer more precise style of Steve and not so good first enduro test from Richard sealed the win with Richard second. Third and very close on the tails of Steve and Richard was Carl Lilywhite.
The Veteran As saw a great battle between good friends Darren Osborne and Chris Stanger. And with Chris being very much a thinking, logical rider he decided to be the very last rider on the MX test to avoid any backmarkers. That alongside two awesome enduro tests was plenty enough to take top spot with Darren just edging second from a rejuvenated Si Beken.
Vet A Over 50 class was won by Paul Armstrong who is very much going through a purple patch and noticeably high on confidence. Runner-up and a rare outing from Dorset's Chris Boyce. Third went to Stephen Taylor.
Clubman As Darren Perry is another very complete enduro rider who seems good no matter what conditions. He took the win quite convincingly. Second was Daniel Cooper while third went to Aaron Dibnah.
The Veteran Bs is a competitive class this year but a very much rejuvenated Iain Judkins looks like the man to beat. It seems that Andy Sharp is always the bridesmaid and today was no exception. Third and a great result for Tim Newman.
Vet B Over 50 was won by Ian Wilson. Second went to Phil Davies with Paul Hart third.
The Clubman Bs was very much a battle of the youngsters for top honours. The win went to Matt Casey. Nathan Baggott was second while third went to David Millar.
The Evo Class was won by Manny Bernardez. Runner-up was Andrew Greenwood with Hans Gilham third.
Another Sportsman victory for Martin Delves who was simply in a class of his own but a great battle for second between Frederic Torres and James Underhill with James just beating the Frenchman.
