The iconic Loket circuit in the Czech Republic played host to Round 14 of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship in stunning sunshine, and the racing delivered just as brightly. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen emerged victorious in the MXGP class with a 1-2 scorecard, while Simon Längenfelder reasserted his authority in MX2 with an emphatic overall win.

In MXGP Race One, Coenen pulled a razor-thin Fox Holeshot ahead of privateer Jan Pancar and quickly built a commanding lead. Championship leader Romain Febvre was delayed early on after being held up by Isak Gifting and couldn’t make up the gap, eventually finishing fifth after a late crash. Ruben Fernandez surged forward to claim second, with Pancar earning a career-best third and Glenn Coldenhoff in fourth.

Febvre responded with a strong start in Race Two, narrowly missing the holeshot to Coldenhoff but quickly taking the lead. Coenen stayed close but struggled with arm pump, taking until lap 14 to pass Coldenhoff for second. Febvre’s win in Race Two ensured second overall, limiting the damage in the title race as his lead was trimmed to 10 points. Coldenhoff’s third overall marked his first podium at Loket on his 12th attempt and solidified his third place in the standings.

Fernandez was heroic all weekend, recovering to fourth overall despite a first-corner incident in Race Two. Privateer stars Gifting and Pancar impressed, while Seewer, Renaux, and Bogers all featured in a dramatic and unpredictable weekend.

In MX2, Simon Laengenfelder silenced any doubts after a tough Saturday with a dominant performance. The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing rider stormed to his sixth Fox Holeshot of the season in Race One and led from start to finish, winning by over 16 seconds. Teammate Sacha Coenen followed him home, with Mathis Valin securing a superb third – the young Frenchman’s first-ever Grand Prix podium.

Race Two saw Andrea Adamo bounce back from a crash in the opener to take his sixth race win of the season. After stalking Valin, the Italian made his move on lap five and controlled the race to the finish. Laengenfelder came home second to secure the overall win – his seventh career GP victory – tightening his grip on the red plate.

Valin impressed again, finishing third overall and delivering Kawasaki their first MX2 podium since 2023. Adamo’s second overall closed his gap in the standings to 47 points, while Kay de Wolf, despite speed, was forced to settle for fifth overall, 59 points adrift of the lead.

As the paddock heads to Lommel for the MXGP of Flanders – the deepest sand of the year – both title fights remain wide open. With Coenen on home soil and Laengenfelder in form, the stage is set for another classic.
