Colonial Trial Cancelled

Keith Ellis and his Colonial Trial organising team cancelled Sunday's national Colonial Trial on Thursday morning after a course inspection revealed snow standing on the Rosedale Abbey course up to a depth of three feet.

Mr Ellis, Clerk of Course for the last fifteen years took the finaldecision to cancel the trial, for the first time in twenty five years. In thepast decade the Norton, Malton, official has been forced to cut the course byfifty percent dues to icy conditions on the north western slopes of the Rosedalevalley. It was to have been his last year as senior official of the trial. "I took the decision to cancel with a heavy heart but the welfare of theobservers, the riders, and the prevailing weather forecasts on Thursday. Thesnow was not thawing at all and the temperatures were plunging atnight"

The Eboracum Motor Club event has a long history asone of the leading events on the British calendar spanning half acentury.
