Death of Vic Scriven
By TMX Archives on 18th Dec 08

VIC Scriven, organiser of many South Eastern and Southern Centre events, has died at the age of 82.Vic started his passion for motocross when he took his wife, Joan, to the Motocross des Nations at Norg, Holland, on a 500cc Matchless back in the 1950s.
When his sons, Chris and Ian, started racing with Horsham SSC, Vic soon got involved, helping out with club working parties, as well as trying to keep the boys' BSA Bantam running!
As the lads progressed, so did Vic, helping out at Southern Centre Motocross meetings, British Championship rounds, the MR ThumperCross Series and Enduro racing for Portsmouth MCC.
After Joan's death, the Portsmouth Club annually staged the Joan Scriven Trophy race, which made Vic very proud, but, unfortunately his sons never quite managed to win the trophy.
Vic spent many hours in the woods at Emsworth, taking down trees, digging out stumps and making nice sweeping turns and obstacles to produce a top venue for clubman races. He was a true four-stroke enthusiast to the end, still owning an ex-Andy Lee Cheney BSA, and a Cheney Honda – as well as 14 tractors.
The funeral will be held at Guildford Crematorium at 11am on Tuesday, December 23.
