Domino’s, Pret a Manger and McDonald’s are giving free food and drinks to NHS staff

NHS staff across the UK are working tirelessly to cope with the increased demands during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

To say thank you, food and hospitality companies including Dominos Pizza, McDonalds, and Pret a Manger are showing their appreciation by offering free food.

On Friday (20 March), Dominos will give a free medium pizza to NHS staff who bring in their ID to one of the participating stores upon collection, as a way of saying thank you.

A post from the popular pizza chain on Facebook said, We want to say thank you to all of our doctors, nurses and NHS staff who are working tirelessly day and night to keep us safe in these difficult times. This Friday we are giving free pizza to all NHS staff across all of our DS Group Domino's branches.

To redeem your free medium pizza for collection, bring your ID into one of the stores listed below on Friday 20th March.

Free hot drinks and 50 per cent off

From Wednesday (18 March) onwards, Pret a Manger is offering all NHS staff free hot drinks, alongside giving them 50 per cent off all food. Anyone with an NHS staff ID can pick up the free drinks and discounted food in all branches of the coffee chain.

A post on the chains social media said, Dear NHS workers, your hot drinks are on the house from today, and well take 50% off everything else.

Thank you for everything you are doing. We look forward to serving you. With love, everyone at Pret.

Pret a Manger also said it would be closing all seating areas and operating mainly as a takeaway business from now on. Last week, the chain also said they would no longer be accepting reusable cups.

McDonald's announced today (18 Mar) that it will be giving out free drinks to NHS workers, emergency services personnel, and health and social care staff as the coronavirus outbreak continues.

In a statement, McDonald's said, "We want to use our UK and Ireland footprint to thank, reward and support the health and care workers doing an incredible job in difficult and unprecedented times.

"This offer is a token of our appreciation for the tireless work that these professionals are carrying out in the communities in which we operate.

"From today [18 Mar] we are offering free drinks for those workers in our restaurants and Drive-Thrus, on sight of their work pass."

This offer is available for staff from the NHS, council and emergency services. In order to claim your free drink, you will need to present your ID.

The offer applies to all drinks - including hot beverages. McDonald's also announced that it would be closing seating areas and becoming a takeaway, Drive-Thru and McDelivery only.
