Dougie Lampkin has now been discharged from the hospital in Austria following his overnight stay under the care of the doctors and will fly back to the UK later today. Despite being battered and bruised after his ordeal at the Ezberg Red Bull Hare Scramble yesterday, the thirty-three year old veteran campaigner is confident he can be in reasonable shape for this weekend's Italian trial Grand Prix. Monday 15th June 09.30hrs UK.
"I feel much better this morning, the worse problem is my fingers and thumb. Mythumb is especially swollen, but not broken and my fingers are minus a fairamount of skin and it looks like I am going to lose the nails on two of them atleast.” Lampkin continued. "The problem was I crashed early on and damaged myhand which made it difficult to hold on. I tried my best to keep going despitebeing in a fair bit of pain, but with the heat and extreme punishment my bodyfinally said enough was enough. It's a shame as I was nearly home, and secondplace would have been a good result given the circumstances and this being myfirst attempt.”
"Hopefully in a couple days my hand will have settleddown a bit and I can then be ready for this weekend's trial in Italy tohopefully follow on from the two good results I got in Japan.” Dougieended.
