Dungey dominates at Spring Creek

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Ryan Dungey took a 1-1 victory at Spring Creek Raceway, the eighth round of the 450 Pro Motocross Championship Series yesterday, meanwhile Factory teammate Marvin Musquin scrambled back to fourth overall in the 250s after a difficult opening moto.
Riding in his hometown, Dungey picked up a second place start and gained some time tripling up the first uphill to pressure Justin Barcia for the lead. He immediately passed for the lead and never looked back. He went on to lead all laps of the race to take a clean moto win aboard his KTM 450 SX-F.
Dungey also got another decent start in his second moto, this time sitting in fifth place. He quickly went to work making passes and had advanced to second at the end of lap two. He again passed Barcia for the lead down a steep downhill and went on to win the race by five seconds for perfect moto scores.
"It feels great to get a victory here,” remarked Dungey on the podium. "I felt great here at my home track and my KTM worked great today. I hope to continue the rest of the season just like this.” He now has a 56-point lead going into the next round at Washougal next weekend.
Musquin recovers to take fourth overall after difficult opening moto
Dungey's KTM Factory teammate Marvin Musquin wrapped up his weekend at Spring creek with a fourth overall in the 250 class competition after a difficult opening moto. His teammate, Justin Hill, finished seventeenth overall for the day.
Musquin had a great jump off the gate and grabbed the holeshot in his first moto, only to go down in a turn before the finish line. He recovered around mid-pack and put in a solid effort to move through the field in the remaining laps, but went down twice more in what proved to be a difficult race. He did well to salvage eighth place and went out determined to push himself up the order in his second moto.
Again Musquin got away well in his second race and was in fourth place before making the pass into third a few laps into the race. From that point on, the team's French rider rode a solid race but was unable to make ground on the leading group. His 8-3 finishes earned him fourth overall for the day. Now after eight rounds, Musquin is second in the championship points and is 19 points shy of the lead.
"I was really bummed with how the first moto ended up,” stated Musquin. "I had a few crashes that set me back. I felt really strong in the second moto and was happy with that result.”
While Musquin did managed to salvage his day teammate Justin Hill, struggled at the Millville track and finished seventeenth. "I know where I am struggling and where I need to work and I plan on improving at the next race to get back into the top ten,” Hill said.
