Red Bull KTM Factory rider Ryan Dungey picked up his second consecutive victory on Saturday at the third round of the AMA 450 Supercross Championship at the Angel Stadium (Anaheim 2). He has now won two and finished second in the first three rounds and leads the points by 13.

Dungey had the third fastest lap time in the afternoon practice qualifying sessions for a great gate pick in his heat race. He made a solid start and quickly worked his way into the lead to take the win. His teammate, Marvin Musquin also had a good jump off the gate in his heat race but was pushed off at the start. He went on to fight his way back into the action to finish sixth in the heat but missed automatic transfer into the main event.

Musquin quickly regrouped and lined up for his semi race where claimed the holeshot only to lose the lead after a mistake in the whoop section. He managed to stay in second place and went on to secure his main event start.

Dungey got a good jump in the start of the main and was sitting second behind fellow KTM rider, Davi Millsaps. He quickly maneuvered around Millsaps and hit the front on his Red Bull KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition bike. The reigning champion then pulled a gap on the rest of the field and went on to claim his second 2016 victory.

"I was really happy to get into the lead early,” Dungey commented after the race.  "I just wanted to get out front, ride my own race and pull away. It's a lot easier when you can get out front and focus on your own rhythm. I'm really glad to get this win and hope to keep this momentum going next weekend.”

Meanwhile, Musquin was once again pushed out off the start and into the tuff blocks lining the track. He scrambled back into the race in last position but worked hard to slip past riders and at the close of the 20-lap race finished ninth behind Millsaps in seventh, and KTM rider Justin Brayton in eighth.

"I felt good today,” stated Musquin. "The track was difficult but I felt strong. Unfortunately, I just had some bad mistakes on the starts that cost me. I am happy to have worked my way into the top ten and will continue to improve from there.”

The third member of the Red Bull KTM Factory Team, Dean Wilson, crashed during the afternoon practice sessions and had to sit out the race. He has a possible injury to the same knee that he hurt last season. He will go for medical checks early in the coming week.
