Ecosse all set for New Year starter
By Team TMX on 8th Jan 20
The hugely-competitive Rock Oil Michelin Ecosse XC Winter MX Championship, supported by Wulfsport and Drysdale Motorcycles, will welcome in the New Year with the third round of its winter series on Sunday, January 12.
The off-season championship has enjoyed packed gates across all classes with many groups filling up well in advance of the weekends racing. In fact, last time out the club had to run reserve lists for the oversubscribed B and C categories.
The Ecosse Winter Series caters for all abilities with classes for A, B and C-graded adult riders along with Novices, Vets, BW/SW85s, 65s and Quads.
John Robson dominated the A class at round two with Kacey Hird and Ryan Thomson vying for second and third but they had a hard-charging Sam Atkinson on his nimble 125 to contend with and hell be out to bag a few more scalps on Sunday.
Ayden Smith was the one to beat over in the youth ranks. He led a gaggle of eager BW and SW85s over the line and the third round is shaping up to be another fast one.
Each class will be allocated two early morning practice laps followed by three races of 12 minutes plus one lap each. Trophies will be awarded to all classes and Rock Oil holeshot prizes will also be up for grabs.
The event promises to again provide a fun-filled family weekend with overnight camping available and food wagons on site. Spectators and competitors can expect to enjoy a non-stop programme with the gate scheduled to drop on the first set of races at 9am.
Entry fees, which include the provision of marshals, are 35 for youths and 45 for adults. Day licences are available and late entries can be taken by calling Mark Ritchie on 07946 494259.
