Elvis Totney: rising star

Crossing the channel most weekends since Christmas to experience the testing sand circuits of the Lowlands, six-year-old West Midlander, Elvis Totney made an immediate impression and a few good connections too.
As a result, and after a chat with his school, his season agenda now looks like this.
Competing in the UK he'll be under the wing of Jordan Eccles 331 MX Academy.
Elvis trains with Jordan on a regular basis and Jordan will be on hand whenever possible guiding his progress through the Judd Racing British Premier Cup series.
Also on home turf this year Elvis is all fired up for a tilt at the DEP Pipes and 90 MXC championships.
That's just for starters, though, as while over in Dunkirk in January he was invited by top Dutch trainer Ronald Starink to be part of the Dutch Masters MXGP Academy – the first round of three for Elvis kicks off at Oss on March 26.
On top of that Starink also invited him to race the Dutch 50cc ONK series under the guidance of his own RST Training Academy.
Getting him in the zone for tackling that little lot Elvis recieves one-to-one coaching with Matt Gilbert at Bike N Sport Personal Training once a week.

Travelling back and forward on a regular basis is a time-consuming affair, and it took a meeting with his school head to gain approval to train and compete in his chosen sport, and also get time off when necessary.
That blessing comes with the proviso that Elvis' schoolwork doesn't suffer in any way.
Bike life began early for Elvis.
He had a dirt scooter to play around on long before he could tie his shoe laces and at just five years old he did a full season of 50cc Nationals under MCrules last year.
The highlights of that series included winning the rider of the day award at FatCat – ultimately picking up the end of season accolade as the ‘The Rider Of The Series'.
Elvis doesn't hit seven until August, and along with Mum and Dad putting in 100 per cent effort, he also gets help from Gear 2win Lommel, Wildmoor Grabaway and Pure Ink Tattoo.
Through the winter months tackling the deep sand of Dunkirk and other tracks, Elvis has mastered a few new techniques, and he's proved a quick learner.
Testing out the plus and minus facts of utilising bigger wheels as many do, Team Totney decided to stick with standard, and already there's a few both here and on the continent predicting a very bright future for him.
At the February Sherwood National warm-up event, a slow start on day one didn't dishearten him and he was back in the groove on day two, ultimately finishing tenth overall against a full field of under 8s.
The following weekend it was back over to Lommel where he secured a brilliant result, taking second overall against a quality turnout.
