European Motocross EMX250 Matterley Basin Steven Clarke
Matterley Basin hosted another weekend with soaring temperatures and epic on-track action, as the ninth round of the 2018 MXGP motocross world championships took place at this picturesque British circuit.
Steven Clarke certainly enjoyed himself in front of his home crowd as he put his Carglass Honda CRF250R on the top step of the podium in the EMX250 class.
Team HRCs Calvin Vlaanderen also made it up onto the box, going four-three for third overall in the MX2 championship.
Steven Clarke will go to France, hoping that he can win two EMX250 overalls in a row, after an excellent victory at his home GP in Matterley Basin. Having previously won here last year, Clarke looked confident throughout the weekend and it showed in his racing as he put a last-lap pass on Tom Vialle to win the first race in front of the cheering British fans.
They were also pleased to see the number 511 Honda CRF250R leading the second race and although he ended up in second place, it was still good enough to take the overall and move himself up into fourth place in the championship standings.
Mathys Boisrame also kept his title hopes alive, as he scored 31 points in the two races, just two fewer than the second place overall rider. He now sits nine points off the lead but with a home GP for him coming up at the next round, he will be trying his best to leave St Jean DAngely with the red plate.
