A fan's guide to this weekend's Internazionali d’Italia in Alghero

European Motocross Internazionali d'Italia Alghero
The prestigious Italian series is on again this weekend, this time at Alghero on March 7.
It's the second of two rounds of the 2021 Internazionali dItalia to be held on the large Italian island of Sardinia.
Internazionali dItalia - three rounds in three weeks
The Italian international championship is the perfect opportunity for riders and teams to benchmark their pre-season progress as they get ready for the tough MXGP season ahead.
Following last weekend's Riola Sardo round, Alghero the capital of the Riviera del Corallo hosts the March 7 round where the riders will return to challenge each other on the technical ups and downs of the Lazzaretto" track.

The grand finale will be held on the well known sandy track of Citt di Mantova, on March 14.
MX1
Rider entries for the Alghero MX1 class are low in numbers but there are still plenty of heavy hitters to watch, including last weekend's winner Romain Febvre.
Jorge Prado, the 20-year-old Spaniard, has decided not to race in Alghero. He was on for a double win last weekend until a mechanical issue forced a DNF on the two-time world champion while leading the Supercampione race.
However, former world champion Febvre looked good last weekend and will be hoping he has more energy after recovering from the illness that has plagued the world this year. He will also hopefully not suffer from arm pump like he did last weekend.
We'll have a keen interest to see how Ben Watson does on his 450 debut with the 23-year-old Monster Energy Factory Yamaha MXGP rider confirmed for Alghero. However, he has said he is just treating this as a training exercise.
Antonio Cairoli is not slated to enter this weekend, although, officially, his name is on the Alghero pre-entry list. As too is defending world champion Tim Gajser, but he too will not be in attendance as he continues to focus on training and testing on the Sardinian island.
The Swiss missile, Jeremy Seewer has elected to skip Alghero as he considers it too soon to be race fit.
After we slightly jinxed Prado last weekend by making him our pick, we'll refrain from any predictions for Alghero.
MX2
The MX2 class was fun to watch last weekend with two-stroke Fantic pilot Nicholas Lapucci leading so many laps before ultimately getting reeled in by Jago Geerts.
Even the entrants in MX2 seem to bring new names, the EMX250 team of Hutten Metaal Yamaha are signed up, it will be the first opportunity to see Bonacorsi on the Yamaha in MX2.
Maxime Renaux started well last weekend, taking pole. However, a crash during time practice left the 20-year-old Frenchman with a dislocated (right) shoulder so it looks like he is ruled out. "Still waiting for some more exams [Monday] to make a plan on my rehabilitation," said Renaux. "I will do my best to fully recover and be ready for the first GP."
Fans
Sadly, due to the current public health situation, there will be no fans in attendance to watch some of the world's best motocross pilots bang bars around Alghero.
How to watch Alghero Italian MX
Thankfully, organisers have found a way to make the EICMA series happen, which includes access to live streaming of each of the rounds, which can be purchased for only 5.49/4.99 for each round. Live streaming starts Sunday, March 7 at 12:10 UTC.
In previous years, live streaming was available free of charge, but unless your Italian language skills were up to a high standard, you had to tune out the live blow-by-blow account and just enjoy the on-track action.
Although the live stream is no longer free, you do get a choice of either Italian or English commentary this year. That's super cool and I know which option I'll be going with!
