A new Maxxis tyre developed with the help and expertise of seven-time AMA Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath got off to a winning start last weekend with Maddii Racings Alberto Forato putting in a dominant display at Matterley Basin.
2019 marks the first year of competition for the all-new Maxxcross MX-ST tyre from Maxxis and in its first competitive outing in the hotly-contested EMX250 championship it allowed Forato to take two convincing wins and get his campaign off to a perfect start the Italian young gun winning by nearly 10-seconds in both races.
It also helped power Andrea Gorini to an overall podium in the EMX2T two-stroke series, as he finished third on his Mandrile Racing Yamaha.
"We couldnt have really asked for a better start to the 2019 campaign," said Maxxis International UK managing director, Derek McMartin.
"We know that the work, effort, and development that has gone into the new MX-ST gives it a performance edge over its rivals, and that is already starting to show with these results.
"The EMX250 championship is a hotbed of talent and the breeding ground for future stars in MX2 and MXGP, and were confident this is the first of many wins, and that we will help power the next lot of champions in world motocross racing.
"Matterley Basin was also the first European round of the MXGP and MX2 championships, and as the title sponsor it was great to see our fully-equipped, race support service in action in the paddock for the first time."
