THE START of the '05 World Enduro Championship might still be three months away but David Knight, KTM's newest factory signing, makes his intentions crystal clear when he tops the podium at the first running of the Genova Indoor Enduro THE START of the '05 World Enduro Championship might still be three months away but David Knight, KTM's newest factory signing, makes his intentions crystal clear when he tops the podium at the first running of the Genova Indoor Enduro in late January. And the 7,000-strong crowd are treated to a double taste of British steel as Paul Edmondson fills the second step of the podium ahead of Italian home hero Alessandro Botturi. The circuit in Genova proves to be every bit as tricky as the established Barcelona Indoor Enduro and the glitzy Las Vegas Endurocross events held late in '04, despite looking much less severe. With the entire track constructed of soil, wood, rocks, gravel and water the natural obstacles prove testing for all but the very best riders - especially the water crossing and the super-slippery rock section. After a SX-style series of heats and semis, the big guns roll out for the final where TM rider Alessio Paoli takes a surprise holeshot and sets the early pace before crashing, leaving Knighter to bring it on home."I tried to ride steady," grins Knighter. "I just wanted to not take any risks, get to the front, maintain my lead and stay out of trouble which I did. My arms started to pump up really bad mid-way through the race so it was just a case of holding on and not crashing."By Jonty Edmunds
