The fortunes of the troubled Spanish Gas Gas factory, which had looked down and out after production stopped in January, took a massive turn for the better this week as electric bike manufacturer Torrot announced that it had been chosen to take over the Girona concern.

And Torrot CEO Ivan Contreras announced plans, backed by a financial partner, to set up production of both the trials and enduro machines immediately with projected sales for 2016 of 3000 machines.
They will be built at the iconic glass-fronted factory at Salt, near Girona airport, where loyal workers have continued to supply spares while campaigning to keep Gas Gas alive.
This news, released as TMX was going to press on Tuesday, is exactly what Gas Gas fans have been waiting for.
