Great start to British MX season for Verde Shiloh KTM

Bailey Johnston and Jake Millward run strong in Revo and MX Nationals season openers. Two-stroke fans can cheer for the Verde Shiloh KTM team this season, as veteran Jake Millward and second-year-pro Bailey Johnston campaign their 250cc KTMs in the MX2 class, and enjoyed a cracking start to the year. Millward went 3-3 in the Revo series opener and 4-3 at the Michelin MX Nationals for third overall both times.
Johnston, the 2021 125cc Youth British Champion, took 14th overall from the first weekend but stepped up his starts in the mixed-capacity races of the Michelin MX Nationals to go 1-1 in the MX2 class for his first-ever professional win!
“I’m over the moon with that performance,” said Bailey. “I was here last week and I knew that I had more in the tank. I got a good start against the 450s so I tried to put as many of them as I could between me and the next 250, then just counted down the laps and did all I’ve been doing with Justin Morris in training.
“At the end of last year, someone suggested trying a two-stroke as I wasn’t happy with how last year went. As soon as I got on it, I felt back at home – like on the 125 when I won the British Youth Championships. I’ve had a few British youth titles but now to win in the Pro class is amazing.
“To go 1-1 on the day, making a pass for the lead on the last lap means that all the work I’ve put in has paid off. I didn’t want to race this morning with all the rain, hoping it was gonna get cancelled if I’m honest, but I’m really glad they did run!”
Team Manager Adrian Kirk was equally pumped. “A very positive start to the season for both riders and we’re proud of both of them,” he said. “Great to see Bailey take his first Pro win. Hopefully, the team can keep this great form going.”
