At the weekend news started to leak out that the organisers of the Hawkstone International had been forced into a scheduling rethink.
It has now been confirmed that the date has been changed to February 8 to avoid clashing with La Capelle and Mantova Starcross.
With a move to early season starts for the GPs it has been a challenge for organisers to find a February date for Hawkstone that didn't clash with other events.
Hawkstone International events secretary, Gary Ford made contact with TMX to explain the thinking behind the date switch. "HIMX are changing the date of the Hawkstone International to February 8 due to the fact that not only were we up against the French race at La Capelle, now the Mantova Starcross is also on the 22nd February.”
He added: "To try to attract a decent line up of GP riders was going to be too difficult and HIMX made a big decision to switch the date and although we still clash with the second round of the Italian Championship we have a much better chance of putting together a really good line up of top riders.
"We hope not too many people have been inconvenienced by this decision but the meeting can only benefit with the date change. The format will stay exactly the same with the British Quad Championship as support and hopefully very soon we can start releasing names of riders who will be attending.”
Although the new date will now avoid going head to head with two popular European events it still makes it a little difficult for teams entered in the Arenacross series as round six is scheduled for Glasgow on Saturday Feb 7.
