Helen earth!
By TMX Archives on 19th May 11
Clement Desalle and Ken Roczen each swept to double victory in the US GP as morning rain left the Glen Helen track wet for the opener in each class and dry for race two in the Californian sunshine. The Belgian and the German also take the series red plates to Brazil. And there was plenty of positive action from the Brits.
Shaun Simpson's season to forget continued in race one when he was hooked off at turn one, but the Scot rebounded in race two with a sparkling sixth, and Jason Dougan was right in the thick of it against the factory boys, holding Steven Frossard – the MX1 series leader at the start of the day – at bay for 15-minutes in race one!#
SUNDAY morning in Southern California dawned dismally with dark clouds bringing non-stop rain until shortly before the start of the opening moto.
The loose surface absorbed the moisture well, but inevitably a single relatively dry line developed quickly and passing was difficult in the opening motos of both classes.
