HOOK, LYNE, AND SINKER

ROUND eight of the 2008 World Sidecar-cross Championship was held at Slagelse, Denmark, over the weekend and after the unfortunate events of the previous round in Germany, it was back to normal for Daniel Willemsen and Reto Grutter with two comfortable race wins. Former champions, Kristers Sergis and Kaspars Stupelis, were second in both motos.
In the Group A qualifying race, Willemsen won from Nicky Pulinx/ Ondreij Cermak while the only Brits in the race, John Lyne and Peter Girling, suffered from clutch problems and never got near the qualifying places.Group B was won by Sergis from Jarno van de Boomen and Bjorn Roes. Thetwo British crews in this group, Dan and Joe Millard plus Mark and GaryKinge were both near the back from the start, but by half distance bothBritish pairings had climbed into the qualifying positions andeventually finished ninth and tenth respectively.
In the 'Last Chance' qualification session, Lyne managed to scrape inas first reserve but then enjoyed a bit of good luck when the Estonianpassenger Erkki Koiv hurt his ankle and was forced to pull out – thusguaranteeing Lyne a start in both races.
Dan and Joe Millard scooped valuable points in the opening race but narrowly missed out in the second leg.
