HUSQVARNA has got the jump on its competition and announced details of its 2009 model range last week, and the big news from the now BMW owned Italian manufacturer is that a new 310cc four-stroke enduro machine will be launched by the company for the 2009 season. Unveiled at last week's big Barcelona Motorcycle Show, the TE310, as it will be know, was displayed alongside the flagship TC450 motocross machine which highlighted the numerous modifications that will be made to the motocross range for next season also. Husqvarna released full details of the exciting new machine in an official communication in which it states the TE310 is designed to fill the gap for the many Clubman and Expert level riders out there who would like a machine with higher displacement than 250F, but without sacrificing the manoeuvrability of the small four-stroke.
Based on the long-standing and race-proven TE250 motor, the TE310 features a larger bore than the smaller motor, up from 76mm to 83mm, and there are numerous new modifications internally also which are aimed at providing a more reliable machine. These include new steel exhaust valves, new gear selector and drive shaft for improved gearbox performance, the introduction of an oil over-pressure relief valve to improve performance even during cold starts, a new oil filter with better filtering efficiency and a new distribution chain slider for more reliability. A new exhaust system is also equipped.
The frame is also completely new on the TE310, although Husky is still sticking with a tried and trusted steel unit, and the unit weighs it at 1kg lighter than the '08 frame, and also improves the ride feel claims Husky.
New wave-type brake discs have also been added, along with a new electronic instrument and obligatory '09 graphics, and the front suspension gets new settings also.
The TC450 meanwhile also benefits from a new frame, shedding 1 kilo from 2008, and numerous engine modifications are also featured including the new steel exhaust valves as fitted to the TE310 and the gearbox mods.
A new titanium exhaust header is utilised to increase the bottom-end performance of the bike and the new wave discs seen on the enduro model also make an appearance.
Details of the full Husqvarna range of enduro and motocross models will be available soon, and motocross machines are expected to be released around July with the enduro models, including the new TE310 sometime in the autumn.
