Round four of the 2025 British Sidecarcross Championships took place at the Schoolhouse circuit in County Durham hosted by the Iveston & Satley club.

Brett Wilkinson/ Joe Millard extended their lead in the British Sidecarcross Championship

18 eager teams were in attendance to compete in the two championship races although missing were George Kinge and Jim Kinge through injury and Michael Hodges/ Ryan Henderson with machine problems.

Timed qualifying was, as usual, a contest between Stuart Brown/ Scott Grahame and current champions Brett Wilkinson/ Joe Millard with Stuart and Scott putting up the fastest time on their last lap. Third fastest was the Irish driver Neil Campbell and his English passenger Paul Horton.

When the gate dropped for the opening moto it was an immediate disaster for Campbell/ Horton when his engine stopped. The holeshot was taken by Wilkinson/ Millard from Brown/ Grahame with Jack Rogers/ Ryan Beavis in third having gone the long way around turn one. As the bikes all left the first corner two were left behind one of them being on it’s side and the passenger obviously in serious discomfort. This was Stephen and Harly Mudie who were the current leaders of the Experts class. Fortunately, they were able to continue but nearly one lap adrift.

The four leading outfits – Wilkinson/ Millard, Brown/ Grahame, Rogers/ Beavis and Sam Osbaldiston/ Thomas Mackay kept their distance throughout the race with none of them being troubled by those behind.

The Mudie pair stuck to the task of making up the ground they lost at the start and finally finished 12th.

Having won the race and posted the fastest lap, Wilkinson/ Millard now led the championship table by 25 points from Brown/ Grahame.

With the crews starting to make their preparations for the second moto, mother nature decided to intervene. In much the same way as we experienced two years ago, the heavens opened and during the quad race that was taking place, it became apparent that parts of the track were waterlogged, and medics were unable to get to injured riders at the top of the circuit. A short meeting of officials soon concluded that racing would have to stop so the rest of the meeting was cancelled. Another unfortunate situation but the right decision was made.

The next round is at Duns in the Scottish Borders on July 27, hosted by Stuart Gair and his team from the Iveston & Satley club.
