Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings returned to the top of the podium at Teutschenthal’s MXGP of Germany to win his 108th Grand Prix and further extend his record for most victories. The 30-year-old Dutchman has been building momentum since making a delayed start to the 2025 season and is now back to his winning ways. Herlings, secured victory with a 2-1 scorecard in Germany, beating teammate Lucas Coenen to the top step of the podium courtesy of the better second-race tiebreaker.
The pair had also run 1-2 in Saturday’s Qualifying Race in which Coenen took the win, meaning the Belgian youngster took home the biggest points haul for the weekend enabling him to nibble into the lead Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team) has eked out in the championship – Febvre’s advantage is now down to 36 points with Kegums in Latvia up next.
Overall victory for Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM) in MX2 sees the red plate shift again, the 2023 champion takes over the series lead from teammate Simon Laengenfelder who had a tough home GP finishing fifth overall with 3-9 finishes. Joining Adamo on the podium were race two winner Guillem Farres (Monster Energy Triumph), and Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna).
In the MX2 championship, Adamo now leads with 466 points with Laengenfelder three in arrears and defending champion De Wolf now 31 points behind the pacesetter at the halfway point of the 20-round series. Kegums in Latvia is next before the highlight of the season as the FIM Motocross World Championship comes to Matterley Basin on the weekend of June 21/22.
