Jeremy Seewer interview

Suzuki Factory rider Jeremy Seewer has shown amazing speed this year, and with three rounds remaining he is the only rider capable of beating series leader Jeffrey Herlings. Seewer got to enjoy his home Grand Prix last weekend, and what a homecoming it was.
Q: How can you explain the Grand Prix of Switzerland?
Seewer: It was amazing, we had such a big crowd, so many fans, my family my friends, everyone was here to watch. I knew when they planned this Grand Prix that there would be a lot of pressure, but I managed to use it to my advantage. I finished second overall, it was actually amazing. I just missed a little no to win, and a little disappointed to finish second, and it was one of the biggest Grand Prix's of my career.
Q: Could you have expected to be involved in such a Grand Prix? I guess when you were growing up there was no Swiss Grand Prix.
Seewer: I never expected it, I didn't even dream about it. My goal was to do the world championship and then my goal was to be up front in the world championship. I never expected this. Of course the Swiss federation and they saw that Valentin and I are doing good in the GP's but I never dreamt about this happening and it was just amazing. No words for it really.
Q: Where you surprised what a success it was?
Seewer: I knew that the organized did everything he can. He had a lot of experience organizing races. He did a great job. Of course it wasn't a typical Swiss track, and we have so many good tracks in Switzerland like Roggenburg, and Payne, but now with the big trailers and everything you need a big paddock, so there is no chance to think of those traditional Swiss track.
Q: You live close to the track. How has it been seeing the facility improve with the weeks?
Seewer: Three of four weeks ago I rode my bicycle past the facility and there were no jumps and I was like, no way there is going to be a GP there. But they built it in like three or four weeks. If you see the area it is a small area and we had amazing racing and a really cool event. I think all the riders feel that way.
Q: Do you feel that this is now an event that will be on the calendar for many years?
Seewer: I think so, I know the organizer really well and he said they have a contract for many years. It's already on the calendar for next year and I hope they can continue.
Q: Last question. The championship. Three rounds to go, are you getting nervous, because you also have a chance to be world champion?
Seewer: Of course, I have to think about that, because it's difficult to keep it out of my mind and I get asked that question five times a day. My second place is safe and I have no pressure, I have nothing to lose, I can only win from now on and I will just enjoy my racing.
