Jonny Walker - a year in the dirt

Its hard to believe but 2014 is pretty much done and dusted. Its been a good year and one I cant really complain about too much. After a lacklustre 2013, I really wanted to change things around for 2014 now I feel like Ive achieved that.
Topping the podium at Erzberg and then the Red Bull Romaniacs were my obvious highlights. Getting the opportunity to work with Danny MacAskill on KTM's Freeride E project was also pretty huge. And a section in the Moto 6 and Ride World Elements videos was also cool. All in all it's been a great 12 months.
But of course things weren't perfect. There were some downs along the way too. Missing the win at The Tough One sucked and losing my defence of the Red Bull Sea to Sky was a bitter pill to swallow.
But overall I can consider 2014 as a major step in the right direction.
I always felt like Erzberg would be my chance to turn things around. As the biggest race of the year it's the best stage to win on. Delivering the victory there was my only focus. Second or third wouldn't really be good enough and anything less than a podium result wasn't really an option.
The thought of losing out at The Tough One was still playing heavily on my mind. I think it sort of chewed away at me more than I realised. That was a race I should have won. Actually it was more a case of it being a race I lost. I had the win in the bag and I let it slip away.
