With a superb Expert entry that included the Weston runner-up Jamie Lewis, together with Luke Hawkins, Shane Carless, Ashley Greedy, James Lassu and Brett Hillman - it was definitely treats all the way on Halloween weekend for the fifth annual running of the Wilden MXC Barmouth Beach Race.

Year on year this superb event in scenic Mid-Wales gets bigger and better - and for many it now represents an absolute "must do” favourite on the year's racing calendar. At 10am on day one with the sun just about to shine, and with the promenade wall lined with spectators a combined group of 65cc and 85cc runners had the pleasure of hitting the well prepped sand first - thus getting the show on the road.

Over the full two-day stretch in the youngsters section Curtis Blamey was in truly breathtaking form claiming five of the six heat wins  - going home as the comprehensive Big-wheel winner. With a sparkling display in the final race of the weekend the remaining victory went to the division runner-up Lewis Hughes.

Keiron Cooke won out in the Small-wheel section with a race card showing three excellent wins and a brace of second place finishes. And in the 65's it was James McFayden who won the bijou battle of the tiddler pilots. McFayden to his credit also mixed it up impressively well with the older guys too.

In what was a tight fought and really entertaining scrap at the sharp end Dan Thornhill, Jay Thomas and Alex Davies nailed a cracking race win each in the Rookie class on day one. On day two however with Thornhill going 3-2-3 it was Thomas and Davies head to head slugging it out for the winners' supremacy. With one Sunday heat win each adding to the Saturday totals the overall result went all the way to an enthralling last race decider - and that one just went the way of Davies with Thomas chasing hard in second - Davies eventually winning the section by a single point.

In the Adult Open division Adam Wells riding a 250 TS Suzuki caught the eye on more than one occasion as he skillfully piloted his way to a gutsy overall victory - carding three of the weekend race wins in the process. In second overall it was Scott Aldridge making a surprise return to racing action. Scott's re-emergence was all the more surprising as it was astride his dads enduro machine complete with lovely lights - non the less however a pair of impressive Sunday heat wins on the Aldridge score card. Elsewhere in the division Rob Minnitt took third with a good solid show as Danny Mallabourne just got the better of Dean Hakes for fourth.

Three conclusive race wins on Saturday, followed by three more on Sunday -  Jamie Lewis on the NA Racing Honda had something of a good weekend in the Expert class that's for sure. To say he was merely on top form just wouldn't do it justice as he completely trounced the opposition leading through every lap. As an over view to the class behind Lewis, Ashley Greedy made a few quick fire starts but generally had to give way to either Shane Carless or Luke Hawkins as they toughed it out for the runners-up position.

At the end of the day it was Hawkins on the 250cc stroker who came through best with a final race second place just tipping the balance his way. Hawkins was also unlucky to go down in the weekend finale dash for cash race. The winner of that one? Yep you guessed it that man Lewis again retaining the trophy he won last year and with another £250 in his back pocket. James Lassu took second with Greedy in third.

Last but very much not least in the Quads there was  another resounding victory, and that went the way of Jack Holloway.
