With a successful opening round under its belt, the BWMA British Womens Motocross Championship is gearing up for round two at Warmingham Lane in Cheshire on June 18.

Run in conjunction with the AMCA, the driving force behind the series is Vicky Marriott and her father Howard.

Vicky's an experienced racer who's represented Britain in the IMBA European championship. Her plan is to provide a structured series to create a stepping stone for fast females who wish to progress to international level.

The championship has Natalie Kane as its official ambassador and is sponsored by Westermans International Ltd which has provided trophies along with £1750 in prize money for the top three at the end of the year. There are also product prizes up for grabs from BelRay, Duck Smart, Gaz66 suspension and SIS.

This year there will be five rounds with entries open to females aged 13 and above on 85cc up to 450cc machines but next year it's planned to introduce a separate class for 85s.

Vicky's new business – The MotoX Club Ltd – is managing the BWMA with all profits going towards supporting up-and-coming racers with the aim of helping towards travelling costs for IMBA competitors.

With 24 riders already registered the series has got off to a great start with plenty of positive feedback from the opening round at Norley where competitors took part in six 15-minute plus one lap races over the recent Bank Holiday weekend.
