AGUEDA (PORTUGAL), 8 May 2010 The start of the second round of the FIM Women's World Championship added drama to the series as leader Steffi Laier crashed at the opening lap while archrival Livia Lancelot went on to take her first heat win of the season.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Laier clocked the pole and stormed to the first corner after the gate dropped. The German crashed and compatriot Papenmeier of Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 got tangled with her. Both were down as HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK's Kane –just back from a hand injury- led the pack through the opening lap.
KTM HDI's Lancelot moved past Mann to take second as the Swedish dropped down the field. Lancelot continued to pass Kane, then pulled away to take her first win of 2010.
Kane dropped to fifth as Diga KTM's Franke worked her way up to second. Laier instead pushed all the way through and grabbed a final third place making up for the initial misfortune. Papenmeier instead crashed other two times to finish 11th.
Mann took fourth ahead of Kane and Fontanesi.
