Lightning Bolter

Leicester Lions speedway track provided an excellent venue for what turned out to be a spectacular event on Saturday evening.
Organised by Nigel Wheatley of Enduroland and the very experienced Pete Carter, of Cotswold Enduro Club, the event ran under the floodlights and really put endurocross in the spotlight.
The fact that the club was allowed to use a venue like the Leicester speedway arena is pretty impressive.
All the facilities were open for use and the staff were very helpful throughout.
A host of well-known Pro riders turned out to support this inaugural event and were joined by Experts, Veterans, Clubmen, Youths and Ladies.
An impressive course had been open for practice all-day and qualifying heats got under way at 5pm, with the Super Final taking place at 8.30pm, for the top two riders from each of the seven qualifying groups.
The course took in the full length of the speedway arena and the 60-metre start took
riders straight into a tight chicane, followed by a steep ramp before the first bend proper, weaving around upright tree stumps and into a choice of lines, either a tyre pit or railway sleepers before exiting and hitting two narrow steel launch ramps.
