British MX hero Max Anstie is already back on his feet after a horrific crash at theMotocross of Nations at the end of September left him with a broken neck, back and shoulder.

"I'm getting a lot more mobile and I'm in good spirits,” said Max, talking to TMX exclusively. "I'm making quick improvements and all things considered I'm doing pretty well.

"It's amazing, I think I could be back on a bike in six weeks although I'm not in any rush. I've broken T3, T4 and C6 along with my shoulder but they're all stable. There's nothing that's a problem and I'm walking around without a brace on.

"Honestly, every day I'm getting better and better. The doctor's really pleased and very positive. It's just broken bones, nothing more.”

The Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki rider has no recollection of the crash in his MX2 qualification race at Ernee when Pascal Rauchenecker landed on him. "I can remember being in hospital and not being able to work out what race I was at. I could hear them speaking French but I knew I'd already done the French GP.”

His injuries meant Max was forced to miss the final round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship the following week when Steven Lenoir pulled back a 44-point deficit to win the MX2 title. "It was such a shame because myself and the team worked so hard,” he added. "I really enjoyed racing in front of my home crowd and against riders I hadn't raced for years.

"It was nice running the red plate which is something I've never done before so, yes, it was a shame but that's just the way it goes but Steven was the most consistent guy there and he did a great job.” Anstie has been linked to a move to Husqvarna for 2016 but refused to comment on his plans for next year – although he admitted he'd love to race the Maxxis series again if given the chance.
