WITH the AMCA Sidecar Championship still undecided, the South Staffs Group made the journey to Bromsberrow last Sunday for the seventh and final round. Bromsberrow is always a popular track but the vision that greeted riders as they arrived on Sunday morning was not a pleasant one. Although the meeting was well attended, many riders didn't even get their bikes out of their vans and simply left for home before practice.
Many more left following practice, after riding a track that had simply not been graded. Additionally, heavy rain throughout Saturday, which also fell throughout the night also, did nothing to improve the track conditions as sand was washed from the slopes to congregate in pools of quicksand at the base of many of the slopes. Attention had been paid to the start straight, but little else. Very disappointing for the final round of a Championship series.
Midland Social did their utmost to adapt to the conditions. The Experts were separated into two groups, MX1 and MX2, but were then put back together in the final block of racing when so many riders decided not to take to the start line.
The track had sections cut out to enable Inters and Sidecars to actually complete a lap but even then, they struggled.
