Montearagon: Spanish Motocross Championship kicks off with Jeffrey Herlings as star
By Team TMX on 28th Jan 22
The Spanish Motocross Championship begins this weekend at the Tajoa Racing Circuit in Montearagon, Toledo and in attendance will be five-time world champion Jeffrey Herlings.
This year the series starts earlier than ever and there is a lot of desire to experience the best show again with the best riders.
CD TeaMX Reina is in charge of carrying out the race and has been working on the circuit for weeks to make sure everything is perfect. The classes on the gate will be EliteMX1, EliteMX2 and MX125 with the Yamaha YZ125 bLU cRU Cup. The event will be open to the public, so fans will be able to enjoy the great races firsthand.
Jeffrey Herlings in for Montearagon
The news broke last week that the MXGP world champion Jeffrey Herlings will be in this first round of the Spanish national championship.
Onboard Lap: Ruben Fernandez Montearagon 2021
Herlings has certainly been taking full advantage of his stay in Spain where he has been training at a range of different circuits.
Without a doubt, this is great news for the series, Spanish motocross, for the riders and the fans who will pack the circuit.
The Dutchman will be the centre of attention, but 136 more athletes will be on the starting grid to start a season that is expected to be at a high level.
Brian Bogers, who already knows what it's like to win in Montearagon, will fight for victory again. Carlos Campano, who will wear #1 as the current champion of Spain in EliteMX1, will try to defend his title. But he will have some tough rivals like Jose Antonio Butron, Ander Valentn or Nil Arcarons.
In EliteMX2 there will be a great cast of riders with a single objective, to take control of Ruben Fernandez. While David Braceras, Guillem Farres, Gerard Congost and Samuel Nilsson will be, for sure, protagonists.
