Muntjac Enduro almost here
By Team TMX on 8th Nov 15
With just over a week to go the GH Motorcycles Muntjac Enduro, final round of the 2015 Edmondson Racing ACU British Enduro Championship is all but ready...
The action will kick off on Sunday 15 November at 9:00am with the event situated on Ride 24 off the A1065 between Brandon and Mundford. With a 20 mile overall lap and a five minute special test adjacent to the start finish area all eyes will be on the championship class who will ride their first test within minutes.
Everyone knows the sandy Thetford Forest terrain but the early championship riders are likely to face a slick and slippery test. With championship riders facing six tests the familiar sandy bumps and berms will develop as the day goes on bringing different challenges to our elite riders.
The battle for the championship couldn't be closer with just 3 points separating Steve Holcombe, (300 Beta) and Jamie McCanney, (250 Husqvarna).
Both have had outstanding seasons with Jamie clinching the Junior World Championship, and Steve finishing third, with a very strong second half to his season. This has included taking overall victory in the Junior class at the final round in France and winning the last four BEC days at the Tarenig and Natterjack. Jamie was injured so didn't finish in the top 10 in the 2014 BEC - so will his slightly later start time give him a slight advantage on the first test?
That's the contenders for the BEC title but there's lots more talent in the field. Multi British and World Enduro champion David Knight MBE is finally picking his pace up following an illness which has impacted heavily on his season. Last weekend David showed some of his true form taking second overall at the Fast Eddy Indoor Extreme Enduro at Stafford - all eyes will be on David who will be trying to put his 250 KTM at the sharp end. Another rider on top form is 2014 British Champion Tom Sagar, who was crowned European Enduro champion in Germany last weekend and will be keen to get in the mix.
Add to this the young but extremely talented Jack Edmondson son of Fast Eddy who has taken a third overall in his first year at the World Youth Enduro Championship. Jack finished sixth at the extreme against very experienced competition and has been getting faster all season. Also expect the very experienced Daryl Bolter, who always goes well at the Muntjac, to be in on the action. Eastern Centre fans will be keen to see how Eastern Centre Enduro Champion Jamie Roper and former Enduro and Motocross champion Aston Bird will fare and they are likely to be in the mix too.
In the expert class Brad King will be pushing Jacob Subachus with a gaggle of other riders capable of mixing it at the top of the experts. Watch Jane Daniels, runner up in the world ladies championship who will be keen to show her speed in this competitive field.
The Over 40 class isn't confirmed either so Richard Hay will be hoping to make his long trip from Scotland worthwhile and of course Jamie Jenkins will be trying to hold onto his lead.
As ever, whatever the result expect a great days' competition to round off the 2015 Edmondson Racing British Enduro Championship.
