MX Nationals Harri Kullas Hawkstone Park
CabScreens Honda went into round two of the MX Nationals with mixed emotions, as Dan Thornhill was sidelined with an injured shoulder from the previous weeks racing. However, spirits in the squad were lifted seeing a red plate on Harri Kullass bike.
The weather and track at Hawkstone Park were absolutely perfect on Sunday morning, as Harri put himself on pole in the qualifying session with a time 0.7 seconds ahead of Red Bull KTM enduro rider and former MXGP star, Nathan Watson.
Race one and Harri got the holeshot and pulled away from the chasing pack by two or more seconds a lap. Harri was in cruise mode and showed his GP pedigree on the challenging Hawkstone circuit as he won by just over 40-seconds in front of Gert Krestinov, who made it an Estonian 1-2.
Race Two was a similar story, with Harri getting the holeshot, with Jake Millward then Mel Pocock trying everything they knew to edge past Harri in the first few corners, but to no avail.
Harri put on a masterclass as he moved away again, sealing a gate-to-flag victory winning race two by 25-seconds.
With two wins, Harri scored an overall win and with it maintained his perfect record in Pro MX1.
But Harri's Easter weekend of racing wasn't done. He then drove overnight for an international race in Northern France on Easter Monday, with some stiff competition at the annual event in Thomer La Sogne, west of Paris.
Harri finished fourth in race one after a four-rider battle with Zac Pichon, Shaun Simpson and Benoit Paturel.
In race two Harri got the holeshot and was battling with Simpson for the lead when he crashed hard remounting to take fifth place.
Harri's starts are dialled and he produced another holey on his way to a third-place finish for fourth overall.
Great day at Thomer La Sgne International race," said Harri. First race hit the bouncy gate but still got okay start and with a group of guys pulling away I finished fourth. Second race holeshot and was riding second when I went down pretty hard and had to settle for fifth. Third race holeshot and couple guys went quite fast so I finished third.
"After the race yesterday [at Hawkstone Park] and long travel I was happy for the day!"
