The Greatest Show on Earth is just weeks away. The dream is soon to become reality with ten times World champion Stefan Everts, AMA champion Ricky Carmichael and the highly anticipated James Bubba' Stewart having all confirmed their participation in what many regard will be the best motocross meeting ever.
With just over five weeks remaining until the greatest off road motorcycle race visits these shores, it is all systems go, go, go – ready for the arrival of the MX of Nations at the Matterley Basin circuit near Winchester on 23rd / 24th September. This is a meeting that has been billed as the USA vs the rest of the World in more recent years and this year promises to be no exception.
The sixtieth edition of the inter countries team race promises to be an absolute epic and one not to be missed as it is simply a once in a lifetime opportunity. Having benefited from hosting the British MXGP at the same venue back in June, Promoters Bike It have learnt much from their earlier experience and have everything in place to serve up something very special this time around.
Often regarded as the Olympics of MX, it is not difficult to understand why, when you consider the potential battles between Everts, Stewart and Carmichael on European soil. Having dominated World MX for the last decade, Everts will be looking to sign off in style in this his last ever fully competitive outing, but Stewart and Carmichael will be showing no respect to the Belgium legend as they look to maintain American pride. From the home point of view, the British team will have their role to play, and could just raise their game with the massive patriotic support they are sure to receive.
A revised track that promises to be more spectacular and technical will wait in store for the World's best riders, whilst the public will find a new parking, camping and entry system that will improve the overall visitor experience. All in all this is going to be the biggest weekend in the history of British MX, so pack away your excuses and make sure you will be there to be a part of it.
