2022 MXGP of Oman cancelled
By Andrew Hill on 21st Jul 22
The FIM Motocross World Championship promoter Infront Moto Racing has announced the cancellation of its 2022 MXGP of Oman.
The promoter and the FIM had planned for the Grand Prix in Oman to be the crowning finale of the MXGP championship in September and would have been the debut for the country in Western Asia.
Infront says work is ongoing with the local organiser to try and bring the series to Oman in the future.
The FIM and Infront have not explained why they have struck the event from the schedule, which is typical of these announcements.
The 2022 world championship will now conclude at the Afyonkarahisar circuit in Turkey on September 4, giving riders some time off before heading to the US for the Motocross of Nations at RedBud on September 23-25.
Oman joins Jakarta and Orlyonok as cancelled GPs in 2022.
