Beaton’s in high demand

A storm is brewing at Mattighofen over who gets Jed Beaton next year.

The Australians contract at F&H Kawasaki is out at the end of the season and his impressive showings in 2018 have attracted attention from virtually every manufacturer in the paddock.

The Red Bull KTM team, desperately in need of an MX2 newcomer to replace Pauls Jonass when the Latvian has an enforced move to MXGP, has its eyes on Beaton to fill in the gap alongside Jorge Prado before its next wonderboy Rene Hofer graduates through the ranks.

The fly in the ointment is that apparently, Jed has already signed with Jacky Martens to race sister brand Husky alongside Thomas Kjer Olsen when Thomas Covington returns to the USA at the request of title sponsor Rockstar to replace Zach Osborne, who has pointed out and must go 450.

If Beaton does finally go to Husky, expect Husqvarna EMX250 junior Tom Vialle to be switched to the slot in the orange factory camp.

Beaton broke his left shin and calf bone along with his right ankle and a number of ribs in a spectacular Chad Reed-style crash at Matterley. He underwent an operation on Monday after which he will travel to the Netherlands to recover.
