Ben Watson treated British motocross fans to a thriller of a moto at the 2020 MXGP of Garda Trentino that propelled the Brit to the top of the final MX2 podium of the season.
A very solid ride in the opening race meant the 23-year-old finished in third place, one position ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team-mate Jago Geerts.
After a win under his belt in the first MX2 race of the day in Pietramurata, Tom Vialle was in prime position to take the overall as the MX2 boys headed into the second race but the newly-crowned MX2 champion found himself in trouble in the first corner. The Frenchman dropped right down the field and would eventually fight back to fifth.
Out front, Watson led Geerts at the head of the pack.

Despite Geerts' best efforts, lap after lap Watson held off the Belgian with Geerts making several attempts to pass.
Then with about six laps to go a small mistake from Geerts left the 20-year-old on the deck and his race was over Watson momentarily had some breathing room. But with pressure from Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Jed Beaton, Watson was unable to relax.
Although his fans will have been on the edge of their seats, there was never a need for concern. Watson looked calm and composed, clicking off the final laps of the moto to give him a flawless race win and a second grand prix victory.
It was the perfect way to finish his MX2 career as he now steps up to the MXGP class with a Monster Energy Yamaha factory ride.
His 45 points from his overall victory at the Crossodromo Ciclamino circuit cemented a fifth place in the 2020 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship.
