Conrad Mewse moves up to MXGP at Loket
By Andrew Hill on 12th Jul 22
Conrad Mewse is moving to the MXGP class, starting at the MXGP of the Czech Republic in Loket.
The British rider, who is comfortably leading the British MX2 series with two rounds remaining, is on the MXGP entry list for Loket, the 13th round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Mewse ages out of the MX2 class at GP level after this year, and it appears his goal is to show what he can do on the bigger bike on the world stage.
No team is attached to Mewse's name on the rider entry list, so we'll have to see where that goes.
Several other riders have moved up early this year; the most high-profile rider is the GASGAS factory star Mattia Guadagnini. Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen and 18-year-old Swiss rider Kevin Brumann are two more that have committed to the change.
As a side note, Maxime Renaux is also on the entry list, but the Yamaha Factory MXGP team has not confirmed his return from injury.
Riley Racing's Joel Rizzi is Britain's sole representative in MX2 for Loket.
