Kay de Wolf has been given the all-clear to return to training ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix of Portugal, which will take place at Crossdromo Internacional de Agueda.
The 17-year-old Dutch ace is expected to return to his works FC 250 tomorrow (Wednesday) following his mountain bike riding last weekend.
The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing rider was holding down third place in the riders' standings entering the last round in Argentina, but a crash in the opening MX2 race at Villa La Angostura meant de Wolf exited the third round early with only four additional points. He has now slipped back to seventh.
The team says the goal is to have him back on the starting line in Portugal.
Team-mate Roan van de Moosdijk is still suffering from the injury sustained at the Grand Prix of Lombardia (Mantova), Round 2 of the FIM Motocross World Championship. Sadly for Van de Moosdijk, he also suffered a crash in Argentina, making the injured shoulder worse and he was then operated on. The 21-year-old #39 also has a left wrist fracture, but that does not require any surgery. No return date has been given.
"The specialist had some good and bad news for us once we got home [from Argentina]," said team manager Rasmus Jorgensen. "The good news is that Kay has no broken bones, but he did still take a hit to the head and has been taking it easy. We will see how he gets on when he tries to ride later this week.
"Roan has had some bad luck with a fractured wrist and broken collarbone, then his shoulder injury from Mantova was made worse and required surgery. The good news is that the operation was a success. We are looking forward to getting him back to 100 per cent, but it will take time and patience."
