Jorge Prado tests positive for Covid-19
By Andrew Hill on 24th Oct 20
Jorge Prado has revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 and subsequently will miss this weekend's MXGP of Lommel.
Understandably, the 19-year-old is disappointed to not only miss out on some valuable world championship points he's been in excellent form of late but also to find out his precautions haven't been enough to avoid the coronavirus.
"As usual last Wednesday before the race we made the tests for covid," Prado wrote on social media. "Today I received the results and I am positive for COVID-19.
"I feel very frustrated not being able to race tomorrow because my job as a professional was to take maximum precautions at all times. My only routine has been to go to training, to the track to compete and then back home keeping myself in a bubble just as I was asked. Unfortunately, we don't know so much about this virus that I don't even have the minimum idea how or when I could get it.
"I hope to receive a negative test soon to be back racing."
The team have confirmed they have carried out tests on the Red Bull KTM Racing team and they all returned negative results.
They will monitor Prado's condition and hope he can return to MXGP competition when he is fully fit.
