Max Anstie latest injury update - out for final rounds of MXGP season
By Team TMX on 19th Aug 19
Standing Construct KTM's Max Anstie will miss the final three MXGP rounds of the season the team announced today.
Anstie had to withdraw from the points-paying motos yesterday after being sent to the hospital in Imola Saturday evening.
He had not been feeling himself since the opening moto in Lommel when he crashed hard and then got caught by another rider. The British rider put his difficulties in recovery down to a bad shoulder he dislocated of his collarbone in the crash and cracked on in impressive style at the MXGP of Italy, finishing in the top three in the timed session and then racing to a top-five finish in the qualifying race.
But after the race he could barely breathe. He was soon diagnosed with a collapsed lung and spent the night being kept awake by the medical equipment in his hospital room.
It's a blow for Max's season to have to sit out the final motos of MXGP series but the team said today that they and Max will do all that they can to get fit for the Motocross of Nations, which is on September 28/29 in Assen.
All the British motocross fans will have their fingers crossed that their 'Nations talisman will be ready for the sand of Assen.
Team GB's MX2 pilot has already confirmed that his season is over. A replacement rider has not yet been named.
