Surgery for Stephen Rubini after injury during training
By Andrew Hill on 11th Mar 21
Team Assomotor rider Stephen Rubini will miss weeks of pre-season because of a back injury that has required surgery.
The French 22-year-old was injured after suffering a crash during training the team revealed via social media today.
"After a bad fall during training, which caused him to break a vertebra, resulting in surgery, our champion Stephen Rubini is now ready to start the rest period and the subsequent rehabilitation, to return as soon as possible to riding his motorcycle," said the statement from the team.
Rubini will be out of action for an indeterminate period of time as he first recovers from surgery before starting his rehabilitation work. However, the late start of the season will help minimise his time away from racing.
